Match Preview: WCWFC vs Lincoln City

Worcester City Women’s first season in the National League comes to an end as Lincoln City visit Sixways Stadium on the final day.

Last Time Out

Worcester City played out a pulsating 3-3 draw at Barnsley and after Solihull Moors's heavy home defeat to Northampton later that afternoon which confirmed their relegation meaning Sixways Stadium will be hosting National League football next season.

Skipper Jess Fassnidge opened the scoring after 14 minutes, but Barnsley equalised two minutes later through Caroline Nuttall. However, just before the half-hour mark, Olivia Mitcham got on the end of a Chloe Bellamy cross to give Worcester a half-time lead.

The lead would be short-lived after Tally Diamond made the game all square just two minutes after the restart. Just before the hour mark, Barnsley went ahead as Caroline Nuttall scored her brace.

City were pushing for that all-important equaliser, and they got their rewards after Chloe Bellamy hit one in the top corner in stoppage time to give Worcester a hard-earned point.

Lincoln, meanwhile, succumbed to a 3-0 home defeat at the hands of Notts County.

Previous Meeting

Back in November, City came away from the LNER Stadium 4-0 winners thanks to a first-half brace from Jess Fassnidge and a goal a piece from Leah Ritson and Keeley Crew in the second half to give City a convincing three points.

This Season

City will finish in 10th place regardless of the results this weekend, as they look forward to another season in the National League after securing their National League status a fortnight ago.

Meanwhile, Lincoln City visit Sixways knowing they will finish bottom of the National League table regardless of how other results go.
