Match Preview: Barnsley vs WCWFC
City will travel to Barnsley on Sunday, hoping to cement their National League status.
Last Time Out
Before the two-week break, Worcester City Women let slip a two-goal lead at Sixways against a stubborn Sutton Coldfield Town. Annie Highway and Keeley Crew sent City two goals to the good but were pegged back before the break, thanks to goals from Millie Kirk and Freya Smith. The Royals secured the three points minutes before the full-time whistle, thanks to a Da’Casto strike.
In the meantime, Barnsley travelled to league leaders Loughborough Lightning but fell to a 3-0 defeat as the hosts look to close in on the title.
Previous Meeting
The two sides last met back in November at Sixways on Remembrance Sunday, with Barnsley going back to Yorkshire with a 5-2 win under their belts.
Barnsley were 4-0 up after 56 minutes, but Annie Highway scored twice in as many minutes, including a superb free kick to halve the deficit.
Barnsley secured the three points after adding their fifth in the final moments of the contest.
This Season
Worcester City Women currently sit in 10th place in the National League table with 9 points. However, Barnsley sit comfortably in 6th place, with a points tally of 29 going into the final two games of the season.
